I fell into filmmaking almost by accident. I was in a band, and while looking for ways to help us become more self-sufficient, I started making our music videos. I'd grown up around cameras through photography, so it felt like a natural next step. That pulled me into a Bachelor of Communications majoring in Media Production at the University of Newcastle, where a scholarship took me to France for two weeks to film a micro-documentary on the festival Les Cultures Du Monde.

After graduating, I worked with a media production agency in Newcastle, NSW, as cinematographer and sound recordist on Calibrate, an award-winning documentary, and picked up my CASA drone certification along the way. When COVID slowed the industry down, I stepped back for a few years building and flying drones before deciding to re-enter the industry, this time as Mountain Head.

Mountain Head is still me, freelancing, just positioned differently. I wanted to move past being seen as just a videographer and offer full-scope production: direction, cinematography, editing, and strategy, all from one point of contact. It's a creative profession I genuinely love, and building Mountain Head around that is what makes it worth doing properly.
